Kindness Takeover 2026

Think Kindness President and Founder Brian Willams visited three schools Wednesday, challenging students at Dishman McGinnis, Potter Gray, and McNeill Elementary Schools to complete and document random acts of kindness over the next 15 days. The students are to be “Kindness Ninjas” helping others quietly without attention.

Calling all Grandparents and Guardians! Dishman Grandparent's Lunch is scheduled for Friday, September 11th during your student's lunch time! On the flyer attached, you will see a QR code to scan to prepay for lunch, along with a QR code to scan to make your sign in at the door process easier! Flyers will also be coming home with your students tomorrow! We are looking forward to seeing you!

Good evening families! Reminder - All BGISD students must have the following completed for the 2026-2027 school year:

1. Online Registration (OLR) - Must be completed annually.
THESE 2 FORMS BELOW MUST ALSO BE COMPLETED!!
2. Transportation Form - This form must be completed regardless of whether your child is a car rider, driver, or bus rider.

3. The My School Apps Form - This is the Household Income Form, which is required to be filled out on an annual basis.

Look out! Dishman teachers are coming to your neighborhood!
We will be having a Teacher Neighborhood Parade on Monday, August 10th starting at 12:00 and ending once we tour all our neighborhood roads! Step outside your homes and wave to us for a sweet treat! You can't miss us- we will be in the big yellow bus!

Then, later that evening, come to Dishman for our annual Open House from 4:00-6:00, where you will learn who your teacher will be for the school year, sign up for clubs, transportation, and a sweet treat! We are ready to see you!

New York Times bestselling author and illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka visited Dishman McGinnis and McNeill Elementary Schools today! His books include the graphic novel series, Lunch Lady, the Platypus Police Squad series, Punk Farm, and he also contributed to the Star Wars: Jedi Academy series.

At both schools, he shared his inspirations for writing and creating art through his life, such as the first book he wrote as a third grader. He talked to students about continuing to learn throughout life and not giving up. The time ended with questions from students and Krosoczka drawing a personalized “Lunch Lady” for each school.
